Companies hiring to fill urgent demands

A handful of companies have seen their hiring needs dramatically rise to keep up with the demand for essential goods and services.

In the wake of COVID-19 related layoffs, a handful of companies saw their hiring needs dramatically rise to keep up with the demand for essential goods and services. Below is a list of companies that had special hiring initiatives during the pandemic and continue to have strong hiring needs, as well as links to their jobs on Monster.

7-Eleven

7-Eleven expects to hire as many as 20,000 new store employees, either directly or by independent 7-Eleven franchisees, in the coming months.

Albertsons

Albertsons wants to hire 30,000 workers including delivery drivers, personal shoppers, distribution center reps, and call center reps. Albertsons is the parent company for Albertsons, Safeway, Randalls, United Supermarkets, and several other food and drug retail chains.

Amazon

Amazon plans to hire a whopping 100,000 full and part-time positions across the U.S. in fulfillment centers and delivery network. They will increase pay by $2/hour for employees and partners who are in fulfillment centers, transportation operations, stores or those making deliveries.

Big Lots

Big Lots wants to hire more workers to meet the increased demand at its 1,404 stores across the country. They will offer a temporary $2-an-hour boost to wages for both store employees and distribution center workers. There will be a discretionary payout bonus for store leaders, and the employee discount at stores has been raised to 30%.

BJ's Wholesale Club

BJ’s is actively hiring for both temporary and permanent positions to keep up with demand; hourly workers will earn an additional $2 per hour from March 23 through “at least” April 12. Managers will receive one-time bonuses of $500–$1000. There’s also a relief fund to help workers who are struggling financially because of the coronavirus. The company is expanding its paid leave policy to cover employees who test positive for COVID-19 or have to self-isolate.

CVS

CVS plans to hire 50,000 people in full-time, part-time, and temporary jobs including store workers, delivery drivers, distribution center workers and customer service employees. CVS also said it would be delivering bonuses of up to $500 to eligible employees who are required to work on-site during the coronavirus pandemic.

Dollar General

Dollar General has “a number of full and part time positions available across [their] stores, distribution centers and private fleet network.”

Dollar Tree

Dollar Tree announced plans to hire 25,000 full- and part-time associates at its namesake and Family Dollar stores and distribution centers.

Domino’s Pizza

Domino’s Pizza is hiring 10,000 part- and full-time delivery drivers, pizza cookers, customer service representatives, managers, and licensed truck drivers for its supply chain centers and stores.

Instacart

Instacart announced plans to bring on an additional 300,000 full-service shoppers over the next three months.

Kroger

Kroger is hiring an additional 10,000 workers across their retail stores, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers.

Land O'Lakes

Land O'Lakes wants to hire plant workers (hourly), manufacturing leadership roles, and drivers and supply chain workers.

Lowe's

Lowe's is hiring 30,000 and giving employees $80 million in bonuses, which range from $150 for part-time workers to $300 for full-time workers.

Papa John’s

Papa John's announced it is planning to hire up to 20,000 additional workers.

Pepsi

Pepsi will hire 6,000 new full-time, full-benefit frontline employees across the U.S. It will provide enhanced benefits to all U.S.-based employees and additional compensation to U.S. frontline employees.

Pizza Hut will hire 30,000 permanent open positions to fill. Jobs hiring immediately include cooks, managers, and shift leaders.

Publix

Publix wants to hire thousands of people by the end of March to work in its 1,243 stores and nine distribution centers in seven Southeastern states.

Shipt

Shipt says it is hiring thousands of shoppers across the country. They will provide up to 2 weeks of financial assistance to shoppers who are diagnosed with coronavirus or placed under mandatory individual quarantine order by a public health authority.

Sprouts

Sprouts Farmers Market is hiring hundreds of positions across the country, including in Los Angeles and Baltimore.

Walgreens

Walgreens plans to hire more than 9,500 full- and part-time and temporary roles including customer service associates, pharmacy technicians and shift leads. It also announced it would give bonuses—$300 for full-time and $150 for part-time hourly employees in stores and distribution centers—beginning late April.

Walmart

Walmart plans to hire 150,000 temporary workers by the end of May. Every hourly associate employed by the company as of March 1 will qualify for a bonus of $300 for full-time hourly associates and $150 for part-time hourly associates.
